Podiatry & Basic Footcare is provided in the New England geographic area. This service is funded by Hunter New England Area Health Service and the HACC (Home & Community Care) Program.
What is our aim?
The project aims to enhance the independence of the target group and to facilitate appropriate targeting of HACC services.
Who is Eligible?
Clients accessing Podiatry & Basic Footcare services must meet the eligibility criteria defined as "persons unable to carry out basic footcare" and have a least one of the following qualifiers:
Physical impairment reducing the ability to attend own basic footcare
Diabetes with an associated foot pathology
Peripheral vascular disease
Podiatric foot pathology

Podiatry Voucher System
A podiatry voucher system has been implemented in some areas to allow access to private podiatry services as required. For more information about this service phone 1300 139 429.
Telehealth High Risk Foot Clinic
Telehealth High Risk Foot Clinic between the Newcastle and Tamworth sites, to improve the foot health of clients with diabetes and complex foot problems in the Tamworth area.
It is anticipated that clients who receive treatment in Tamworth using Telehealth facilities will have the same clinical outcome as if they were travelling to Newcastle to obtain the same treatment. Treatment in Tamworth will be provided by a local multi-disciplinary team with Telehealth review by the Newcastle High Risk Foot Clinic.

How to Refer
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
Direct potential eligible CHSP referrals (older people aged 65 years and over or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) to the My Aged Care gateway. Phone My Aged Care contact centre 1800 200 422.

Community Care Supports Program (CCSP)
