Telecross is provided by Australian Read Cross and it is a service that provides phone calls on a daily basis to check on a person's wellbeing. We are seeking volunteers who are keen to make a difference, simply by making a regular phone call to help our clients maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. Use your good communication and listening skills, an empathy for older people and a respect for confidentiality to help the vulnerable in need. Telecross is a free service which provides reassurance to people who may be disabled, frail or medically at risk or people who live alone in their own homes. Red Cross volunteers make daily phone calls to check on the well being of people who live alone, who may be disabled, frail or at risk of falls. The service operates 365 days of the year between 7am and 10am. Volunteers work from Red Cross offices in Broadmeadow (Newcastle) and Blacktown (Sydney).
