After your approval, the next step is usually a planning meeting and then the start of your funded supports.

Once your access request is approved, the NDIA will usually contact you to arrange a planning meeting. This meeting is where you talk about your goals, current supports, and the types of help you need to live more independently and participate in the community.

Your planning meeting

It is helpful to bring information about your daily life, goals, and support needs. You can also ask for a family member, advocate, or support person to join you. You can tell the planner what works well, what is difficult, and what kinds of supports would help you achieve your goals.

Your NDIS plan

After the meeting, the NDIA will decide what reasonable and necessary supports should be funded in your plan. Your plan will outline your goals and the supports funded under the NDIS. It may also include how the plan is managed.

Starting supports

Once your plan is approved, you can begin using your funded supports. This might include therapy, personal care, transport, equipment, home modifications, or support coordination. It is important to choose providers that understand your needs and are comfortable working with your goals.
